Ayurvedic Remedies for Fever: Natural Ways to Reduce Temperature and Boost

 In Ayurveda, sudden high fever is often seen as a result of an imbalance in the body's doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), often involving aggravated Pitta due to heat or toxins. Here are some Ayurvedic remedies and practices to help manage sudden high fever:

1. Herbal Remedies

- Giloy (Tinospora cordifolia): Known as "Amrita" in Ayurveda, Giloy is a potent antipyretic (fever-reducing) herb. Boil Giloy stems in water, strain, and drink the decoction 2-3 times a day.


- Tulsi (Holy Basil): Boil Tulsi leaves in water, add a pinch of black pepper, and drink as a tea. It helps reduce fever and boosts immunity.



- Neem (Azadirachta indica): Neem leaves have antipyretic and detoxifying properties. Boil neem leaves in water, strain, and drink the decoction.



- Ginger (Adrak): Prepare ginger tea by boiling fresh ginger in water. Add honey for taste. Ginger helps reduce fever and improves digestion.



- Coriander Seeds (Dhania): Boil coriander seeds in water, strain, and drink the infusion. It helps cool the body and reduce fever.




2. Cooling Measures

- Sandhanam (Cooling Compress): Apply a cool, wet cloth to the forehead, wrists, and feet to bring down body temperature.

- Coconut Water: Drink fresh coconut water to hydrate and cool the body.



- Fennel Seed Water: Soak fennel seeds overnight in water and drink the infused water in the morning to reduce heat.


3. Dietary Adjustments

- Light and Easy-to-Digest Foods: Eat light meals like khichdi (rice and lentils cooked with ginger and turmeric), boiled vegetables, or vegetable soups.



- Avoid Pitta-Aggravating Foods: Avoid spicy, oily, fried, or sour foods that can increase body heat.

- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of warm or room-temperature water, herbal teas, or infused water.


4. Ayurvedic Practices

- Rest: Ensure adequate rest to allow the body to recover.

- Pranayama (Breathing Exercises): Practice Sheetali and Sheetkari pranayama to cool the body.



- Oil Massage: Gently massage the soles of the feet with coconut oil to reduce heat.
